Mechanical Contractors Association of Maryland Commends Comptroller Franchot and the new Maryland Payment Portal
Baltimore, MD – The Mechanical Contractors Association of Maryland (MCA-MD) commends the Comptroller and his team for their leadership in initiating a new transparency payment portal to assist Maryland small and minority-owned businesses. MCA-MD and our stakeholder partners at the Alliance for Construction Excellence (ACE) have been encouraging local leaders to provide a solution for enhanced transparency regarding when payment to prime contractors occurs. That day is here.
Cash flow is the life blood of any small business and it is critical that subcontractors receive payment for work performed in a timely manner in order to remain viable. The new Maryland Payment Portal will address this long-standing challenge with real-time transparency. This is a huge win for working families, Maryland tax payers, and struggling small businesses.
MCA-MD Executive Board Member Jeff Ashe, owner of Electrical Automation Systems, Inc. (EASI) located in Pasadena, Maryland stated, “As a business owner in the community, we are extremely pleased that, after many years, this issue has finally been resolved. Kudos to the Comptroller and his staff for addressing this matter with a common-sense solution.”
